Organizing The Team Should Be Your First Priority!
Develop a Coaching Philosophy: You can base your personal coaching philosophy on  the AYSO Coach Pledge.

Conduct a Parent's Meeting:
At the meeting, discuss the following: AYSO's five philosophies, the team's goal(s) and your coaching philosophy.
Don't forget tobegin by explaining small-sided soccer and why we play it. Also, don't hesitate to share your experience or lack thereof as a coach. Remember to educate parents briefly on the Laws of the Game specific to this age group.

Get Help: You will need assistant coaches, team managers and a team parent.
Set team policies regarding:
1. Equipment brought by each player: water, ball (properly inflated), shin guards, appropriate clothing.
2. Attendance at activity day.
3. Player and player behavior: You can discuss expectation of players and parents based on the Player and Parent Pledges.

AYSO Debuts New Video
Parent Orientation Video Now Available Online

A video for new AYSO parents is now available online.  The six-minute video helps parents understand the important child-first philosophies, powerful volunteer training
and other valuable benefits that make AYSO the best soccer program for all children and families.
The video has also been sent in a DVD format to all AYSO Regional Commissioners to be used for fall Parent Orientation Meetings. It has a "looping option" that
will also allow it to play repeatedly at Picture Day or other events where AYSO families gather. It's a great way to kick off the new season!
